Lagos State Government Orders Coroner Inquest Into Death Of IVD’s Wife, Bimbo Ogbonna

The wife of auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, Bimbo Ogboona, died, and the Lagos state government has requested a coroner’s inquest to determine the exact cause of death.

Bimbo allegedly died on October 15 from burns she allegedly received during an alleged domestic violence episode at their Lekki, Lagos, residence.

The order for a coroner’s inquest was issued in a statement by Moyosore Onigbanjo, the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. He said that the cause of Bimbo’s death would be determined after a comprehensive inquiry.

The commissioner noted that as a government, the security and well-being of citizens were of utmost importance while assuring the public that everything will be done to ensure that the cause of death is known.

He also said findings of the investigation would be made public in due course and appropriate sanctions meted out to anyone found culpable, the Lagos State Government said.

“A coroner’s inquest has immediately been requested, in line with Section 14 and 15 of the Coroners’ Systems Law, Laws of Lagos State 2015, to determine the cause and circumstances of death.

By Section 14(1)(d) of the Coroners’ System Law of the State: “A report of death shall be made to any of the agencies for the report of death or the office of the Coroner and be subject to post-mortem examination where there is reasonable cause to believe that the cause of death was: violent, unnatural or suspicious.

Section 15(1) and (9) further enjoins the Coroner to hold an inquest whenever he or she is informed that the death of the deceased person was in a violent, unnatural or suspicious situation or believes an inquest is desirable following the report of a reportable death” he said

The attorney-general also charged the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, to assist the Police and other law enforcement agencies in investigating the case and ascertaining the cause of death of the late Bimbo which had attracted wide media attention.

How Bimbo Died

Esabod Global news reported days ago that the celebrity auto dealer’s wife, Bimbo died in hospital. The sad news was announced by her sister, Mama Jazz, in an Instagram post on Saturday, October 15. Announcing her demise, her sister called out IVD for killing his wife.

IVD posted videos of his home’s damage, which he claimed his wife was responsible for.

According to sources, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, Bimbo confronted her husband IVD about the ongoing beatings she was receiving, and a battle erupted.

Their home was burned down as a result of the altercation. Bimbo received severe burns and had to be transported to the intensive care unit, while IVD allegedly managed to escape with only minor injuries.

After being called out on social media by the deceased’s sister who claimed he killed Bimbo and watched her burn to death while filming, IVD released videos on his Instagram page which shows a lot of damage done to his house. In one of the house, his late wife could be heard in the background saying “You’re a small man, HIV positive, ritualist”
