2023 Lagos Election: Funke Akindele Reveals How God Convinced Her To Run With Jandor

Funke Akindele, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, has claimed that God called her to run as Jandor’s deputy governor for the upcoming 2023 Lagos state elections.

According to Funke Akindele, a mum of twin boys and popular filmmaker, God called her and the PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) to change the story of the state if elected in 2023.

Esabod Global News reports that Funke Akindele made this remark at the Sunday Worship Service of the Ayo Ni O Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Surulere District, Badagry Circuit Headquarters.

According to her, God has been with her right from birth and He is interested in her aspirations to make Lagos state work for all segments and divisions of the state.

“God has been with me from infant till I went to school and till now. He chose me to be the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP, despite the crowd that struggled to be chosen.

“I give God all the glory for what he has done. God has always been doing the best for me.

“We were called by God, if not we would have backed out. People have suffered but God has called us and put us forward to come and change the story of Lagos state to better. The success of Lagos state is ours,” she said.

Akindele thanked the church leaders for their prayers and support.

Jandor breached agreement by choosing Funke Akindele as running mate

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has said that the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos state, Olajide Adediran, breached an agreement on running-mate selection.

Speaking on News Central, George explained Adediran, who is also known as Jandor, flouted the agreement to make Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour his running mate instead of Funke Akindele.

He claimed Adediran’s decision to pick Akindele, a Nollywood actress, forced Rhodes-Vivour to join the Labour Party as its standard bearer for the Lagos governorship election.

“After their presentation here in my office, we saw that these were the best two we have (Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Adediran), and we asked him (Adediran) pointedly here, would you work with this man as your deputy, and he said, ‘yes sir,” he said.

“Haven’t paid for the price of the form, for us to have a seamless primary, would you take him to be your running, mate, he answered ‘yes sir”

“After that, he came to me to say his mentor, Denrele Ogunsayan asked him to choose a deputy from Ikorodu, a woman. I told him why didn’t tell me at the time. I’m saying this now for history because that was what transpired. I have heard rumours that I am the one sponsoring Gbadebo.

“He (Adediran) reneged on the agreement. I had to call Gbadebo’s father to tell him that this is getting a bit too dangerous. We as leaders did our utmost to ensure that we have a very seamless primary.”
