Davido reacts to reports of low turnout at his concert in Abuja

Award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido has reacted to alleged reports over his concert in Abuja.

Esabod Global News reported last night that the music superstar singer held a Timeless Concert at Eagles Square, Abuja, and had cried out over the poor turnout.

Davido took to Twitter to express his disbelief and disappointment, as he shared a video revealing a sparsely populated hall, leaving him visibly shocked. In his tweet, Davido questioned if it was a prank, highlighting his surprise at the low attendance and pondering if the people in Abuja weren’t interested in the show.

Blogger, Instablog9ja shared a tweet from Davido lamenting over the poor turnout, with a caption alleging that the singer was devastated over it.

Taking to the blog’s comment section, Davido commented with a cap emoji. The cap emoji is a slang that symbolizes a lie being told or a story being created out of a false narrative.

The slow turnout could be due to the many controversies the singer was embroiled in this year. From cheating scandal to alleged debt with business, Abu Salami, and failed contract with Amaju Pinnick.

In better light, this year no doubt came with several blessings for Davido who made his comeback to the music industry after almost 6 months break.

The “Unavailable” crooner had been recognized as an “Outstanding Georgia citizen” by the Georgia State of Assembly.

Davido shared the good news on his Instagram page with a video of him at the U.S. State of Georgia General Assembly, and a post expressing happiness over the good news, he asserted that God is good.

In October, Davido was honored by Atlanta and Georgia with a ‘Day’ dedicated to praising him. His lawyer, Prince Ajudua shared screenshots of the certificate of declaration.

Atlanta had officially declared November 18th, 2023 as Davido’s Day, while Fluton County, Georgia has declared November 21st, 2023 as Davido Appreciation Day.

His fans went wild with joy over the news as they took to the comment section to hail their King.

Recall that since the release of his comeback album, Timeless, Davido has been soaring high as his album now has over a billion streams.

His new album has brought the singer more recognition and has made him a Grammy nominee. Timeless bagged 3 nominations for Best Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Global Music Album at the 2024 Grammy.

Speaking on his nomination, Davido affirmed that delay isn’t denial, especially since his contemporaries, Burna Boy and Wizkid have been recognized by the academy.
