Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre is facing criticism after inviting upcoming artist Spyro to perform at his church.
The 42-year-old lead pastor sparked controversy as Spyro sang his popular secular song, “Fine Girl,” during a recent church service, dancing with a woman while singing the lyrics.
This move has stirred a backlash, with some arguing that such worldly songs have no place in a church setting. Concerns have been raised about the perceived decline in the standards of Christianity, with claims that the faith is embracing practices at odds with its principles.

Also recall that recently , Portable had drawn attention for performing in a Celestial Church video where he sang chaotic songs, contrary to the Christian theme. Critics had questioned the appropriateness of such performances in a religious setting, condemning the church for allowing Potable to showcase his act. This incident adds to the growing debate about the role of popular secular artists in religious spaces.
Yesterday, entertainer Charlie Boy had expressed doubts about the existence of God due to the ongoing religious activities. He questioned the significance of recent religious developments, in the face of diverse religious practices.
Notably, Daniel Regha had called out Pastor Adeboye and other Nigerian pastors for what he termed “clout chasing.” This criticism arose after Pastor Adeboye revealed details about his expected death during a sermon. Regha found the disclosure disturbing and pointed out the tendency of Nigerian pastors to make prophecies that often do not come to pass.
