Thousands gather in Iwo, Osun as Sisi Quadri is finally laid to rest amidst tears (Video)



It is a devastating time for fans and lovers of late Nollywood actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji better known as Sisi Quadri as he has been laid to rest.


The conic Yoruba actor has been finally laid to rest in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Videos captured online showed crowd at his burial ceremony as they watched the actor being laid to rest. Among the crowd were Youths and residents of Iwo, including Theatre practitioners and other dignitaries.


According to reports, mourners gathered at his father’s residence in the Agboola area of Iwo as early as 8 am anticipating the arrival of his body from the mortuary. The deceased’s body arrived at around 11 am in an ambulance and the crowd was thrown into mourning as they beheld the actor’s body.

Esabod Global News reported on Friday that Sisi Quadri’s untimely demise was announced by his colleague Tunde Olayusuf on Instagram.


Reports made rounds that the actor passed away when he was rushed to the hospital in his hometown in Iwo, Osun State, after suffering persistent hiccups which were caused by kidney-related issues.


A viral video of the actor complaining about his health before his untimely death made rounds online, which left many calling for investigation over his death. The video captured the actor venting out in a hospital over the situation of his health, as he could be heard lamenting over how the tests conducted on him had made him feel unease and to worsen it, they were ignoring him.

Following the news of his demise, his colleagues who had been left shaken by the news took to their respective Instagram pages to mourn him.

The likes of Muyiwa Ademola, Folorunsho Adeola, Bukola Adeeyo, Oba K Solo, Mercy Ebosele, Jigan Babaoja, Biola Bayo, Saidi Balogun, Olayinka Solomon, Mr Latin, Fausat Balogun and more paid respect to him.


Biodun Omoborty while lamenting over his death revealed that she was still in shock and denial of his death.


The mother of two revealed that she cannot post Sisi Quadri’s photo because she believed it to be a stunt. She went on to compare his demise to a sunset at noon.


Veteran award-winning actor Kunle Afolayan shared a photo of himself and Sisi Quadri on the set of Anikulapo, expressing shock over the actor’s death. He revealed that he’s at a loss for words and he’s still trying to cope with Sisi Quadri’s death. He prayed that the vibrant actor rest in peace.


Wumi Toriola had sent a message to her colleagues, telling them to respect the dead and not show his family’s vulnerable moments. She told them to be civil, especially during the burial, and not form new breakers on top of their pain.

Iyabo Ojo admitted that though she didn’t know him too well, she loved his craft and was planning to reach out to him to work with her on a project before she heard of his demise from Toyin Abraham.


Noting how life is short, she told him to rest in peace and appealed to the industry to open a health support account for actors and crew members so people can donate to colleagues who need medical support.
