Wizkid trade words with fan who disagreed with him over his statement

Award-winning singer, Ayodeji Balogun better known as Wizkid or Machala has traded words with a critic over his recent statement.

The singer, who distances himself from Afrobeat days back, via the micro-blogging platform Twitter now known as X, stated that money doesn’t buy love.

“Money don’t buy love”, he tweeted.

A tweep disagreeing with him tweeted, “Boss I disagree”

Replying him, Wizkid took a swipe at his father as he noted how his statement didn’t bother him.

“That one na ur papa business”.

Recall that in late 2022, Wizkid had broken the heart of his baby mama, Jada Pollock as he hunted for love again.

The Grammy singer, surprised many when he took to his Snapchat to lament about his relationship life. According to him, he has been single for too long. The father of four also revealed that he is ready to find love again and is open to dating one or two ladies.

He made this statement just a few weeks after Jada welcomed their second child, a baby boy.

In other news, Wizkid while announcing his new album, cautioned Nigerians against categorizing him as an Afrobeat artist. He went on to warn bloggers against posting his new album.

Wizkid didn’t stop there, he read the riot acts as he informed those who fell in love with him during the Pakurumo era to refrain from downloading his new album. For those who love Afrobeat, he also told them not to download his album.

His statement didn’t sit well with many who slammed him for disrespecting the genre of music that paved the way for him.

Defending himself, Wizkid doubled down on his words as he explained his statement better, noting how he makes music to be stereotyped or boxed.

Telling Nigerians to educate themselves, he stated that though he is an African artist, he makes fine music and doesn’t want to be labeled as just an Afrobeat. He noted how despite how good or amazing our music is, African artists all get nominated in one category at Grammys or other International awards.
