“It is unfair” – Actor Seun Jimoh slams EFCC for scapegoating celebrities over Naira abuse

Nollywood actor, Seun Sean Jimoh has lashed out at the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC for allegedly scapegoating celebrities.

Taking to his Instagram page, he noted how 70% of Nigerians are guilty of Naira abuse, yet only celebrities get to be punished. He questioned why no one is ever caught on video spraying money between the time the law was in effect and now being arrested.

He noted how celebrities are citizens too as he stated that the scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite sinister and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens.

“So no civil rights group can challenge the prosecution of spraying Naira? A long imbibed cultural norm, a practice that is as old as the country itself and has deeply rooted cultural imprints. I understand wanting to curb the transactional sale of Naira for Naira at parties, but to say people should stop spraying money at parties is almost at loggerheads with our deeply rich partying culture! There just be way around”.

It looks like scapegoats are being selected to send a message to the general populace. but then, is it unfair that certain people are being selected for a crime almost 70 % of Nigerians or more are guilty of with overwhelming video evidence all over the internet?! Why isn’t anyone ever caught on video spraying money between the time the law has been in effect and now being arrested ?! Why celebrities? Celebrities and citizens too! This scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite sinister and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens”.

Seun Jimoh isn’t the only one who has slammed the EFCC. Legendary singer, Charly Boy had issued a message to EFCC, making it known that Bobrisky isn’t the problem of Nigeria as he admonished the commission to find better work.

He pointed out the hypocrisy of how many civil servants, ministers, and Yahoo boys spray money on a daily, yet the commission didn’t arrest them and stressed that Bobrisky isn’t the country’s problem as he slammed them for their moral judgment.

This is coming hours after it was announced that EFCC is set to arraign socialite, Pascal Chibuike better known as Cubana Chief Priest today, Wednesday April 17th over Naira abuse.

Channel Television reports that EFCC had filed a three-count charge against the businessman for allegedly spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Two weeks back, EFCC arrested popular crossdresser, Bobrisky over abuse of the Naira which he pleaded guilty to, and had pleaded with the judge to give him another chance, promising to make good use of his platform to inform and educate his followers about spraying money.

Unfortunately, the judge didn’t excuse his bad behavior.

Last week, the crossdresser was sentenced to jail for 6 months without an option of a fine over Naira abuse.
