“My family was the pioneer of Anglican church but I don’t go to church anymore and now do juju” Singer Seun Kuti shares new update (Video)

Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti is one of the few celebrities who is bold enough to take a stance on religion.

The singer, who has never shied away from being a proud critic, has made it known that he no longer goes to church, despite his family being one of the pioneers of Anglican church in Nigeria.

He made this known during an interview with Phyna for her podcast, Spill With Phyna where he boldly stated that he is actively involved in juju (charms). The son of Fela Kuti expressed hope that Africans would follow suit in his belief.

Schooling religious lovers, he started that believing in Jesus Christ isn’t believing in a man or personality, but believing in the resurrection and the birth as there are doctrines to it. He noted how Christianity and Islam are a religion of now, where one is forced to accept a religion immediately.

“My family started the Anglican side of Christianity for this country really. If you look back at it, we are part of the pioneers. Bee there, done that, and have moved on. We hope Africans can follow suit. No, na juju I dey do.

When people try to preach to me to give my life to Christ, I ask them only one question and it’s if they have bank accounts. If they say Yes, I tell them they are just like me, anywhere I dey go, where I die, is where you are going.

To believe in Jesus Christ is not to believe in a man or personality, there are doctrines behind it. You just believe in the resurrection and the birth. Christianity and Islam are like a religion of now.

This isn’t the first time, Seun has spoken out on his stance on religion.

Last year, Seun Kuti revealed why he doesn’t believe in God, making it clear that he doesn’t believe in the concept that people believe in when it comes to God and doesn’t see any reason why such a person is supposed to be giving credit.

Seun Kuti noted how 80% of human beings are living in hunger and yet, we are supposed to be God’s most prized possession. He added that he doesn’t believe in God, especially in the concept that people believe in him.

The singer made it known that despite it all, he believes there is something, but not like how we are being told.

In a past interview, Seun stated that he doesn’t believe in God, and isn’t a believer in anything supernatural.

He made it known that he doesn’t believe in God, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Ifa, Ogun, etc.

Similarly, media personality, Daddy Freeze stirred backlash as he revealed several reasons why he couldn’t serve God, who he referred to as ‘god’.

According to him, he can’t serve a God who couldn’t resurrect Mohbad, who watches tithe paying children in hunger and penury, and who couldn’t stop the rigging of the election.

Reacting to it, via his comment section, Big Brother Naija’s former housemate, Bambam slammed him as she lectured him about his utterance.
