Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel, has appreciated the Vice President, Kashim Shettima for saying that his hit song, ‘Buga’ is on the verge of becoming the nation’s second national anthem.
Shettima recently caused a stir when he and some ministers were filmed dancing to the song at Davos 2024 in Switzerland.
He was questioned about it during an interview with Arise TV and he explained that government is still dedicated to advancing the arts and culture to realize the lofty goal of “Nigeria Destination 2030.”
“We have a grand vision called Nigeria Destination 2030. We cannot deny that Nigerian culture and the arts are making global ripples. Furthermore, Nigeria has been absent from the international stage for a while.
We have a chance to reintroduce Nigeria through this. And our second national anthem is nearly entirely composed of the “Buga” dance. Thus, we must present Nigeria,” the VP said.
Reacting through Twitter, Kizz Daniel said that Buga has transitioned from the shores of Nigeria to Africa, making it the continent’s anthem.
The singer wrote; “Actually, it is the Continent’s Anthem 🌍 THANK YOU VICE PRESIDENT KASHIM SHETTIMA 🇳🇬🫡”
