“I am a proper Yoruba girl” Ayra Starr explains her reason for disrespecting King Sunny Ade at an event

Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has tendered an apology to legendary singer, King Sunny Ade over the backlash she received for disrespecting him at an event.

Esabod Global News reported hours ago that Ayra Starr was being dragged online over her disrespect to Legendary singer, King Sunny Ade and Grammy singer, Burna Boy’s mother.

In a viral video, Ayra Starr who was in her unusual skimpy outfit could be seen in the same event as the two.

From the clip, Ayra Starr had snubbed Burna Boy’s mother as she greeted a woman sited closely to her. She went on to greet KSA by shaking his hands, something which many including actor Adeniyi Johnson and his wife, Seyi Edun found disrespectful.

Now taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, Ayra tendered a deep apology as she explained herself. She stated that the light didn’t let her see properly, but when she realized it, she came back to greet them.

She added that she has never been a disrespectful type and she is a proper Yoruba girl.

“I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see but I came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girl and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle, and King Sunny Ade”.

In a previous headline, Ayra Starr had slammed guys who have been giving her backlash over her latest performance.

In response to the comments and criticisms she received over her outfit to a performance, Ayra addressed the issue without mincing words as she branded those criticizing her outfit as “useless men” and accused them of being clout chasers. The situation escalated further when she made a bold declaration, asserting that everything she does is primarily for her female audience.

Back in September, she declined to accept an award during the Headies award ceremony. Ayra Starr had been recognized as the best female artist, but her award was not announced on stage; instead, it was presented to her backstage.

In response, she publicly refused to accept the award, stating that she would not show gratitude for an honor that was not deemed worthy of being announced on the main stage. Ayra Starr highlighted the disparity between her treatment and that of male artists, who received on-stage recognition.
