I never wanted to marry someone like Adekunle Gold – Simi

Award-winning Nigerian musician, Simisola Kosoko better known as Simi has revealed how her husband, Adekunle Gold’s occupation could have negatively affected their relationship.

The ‘Gone For Good’ singer said that when they crossed paths at an event, she never knew that Adekunle Gold was also a musician, which was a red flag for her.

According to the mother of one, she vowed never to marry an artiste, not knowing at the time of their courtship that her man fell under such category.

Simi, who made the disclosure during the latest episode of Tea with Tay podcast hosted by media personality Taymesan, also said Adekunle approached her as a fan.

She added that despite not being aware that the ‘Five Star’ cooner was a music act when they met, she agreed to date him because he was a really nice guy.

“When I first met my husband, I didn’t know he was singing because me I already said I cannot marry a singer. I didn’t know he was singing, I think he was even a fan,” Simi said.

Meanwhile, in related news…

Esabod Global News recalls that few months ago Simi recounted what made her agree to date her husband, Adekunle Kosoko aka Adekunle Gold.

The popular entertainer revealed that they met during a show she had at Bogobiri in Lagos and their relationship started from friendship.

The ‘Duduke’ crooner said that Adekunle Gold’s persistence made her consider dating him during the early days of their careers. Simi said he had been messaging her on Facebook for a while but she didn’t notice until they started dating.

She said; “In the gospel community, I was pretty well known. And he [Adekunle Gold] had heard my album at that time as well. He has been reaching out to me on Facebook, DMing me on Facebook. But I didn’t see those DMs until we started dating.

“I don’t remember how we eventually linked up again. I had a show Bogobiri, and he turned up. He was very slim at that time with white BYC and jeans. He came to see me perform. I was like, ‘Oh hey! He was like, ‘Oh! I’m such a fan.’ And I was like, ‘Okay!’ [laughs].

“I don’t know, he must have been persistent because there is a friendship that came out from there. I thought he was a really nice guy. We became friends and later that year, he asked me out. I mean, as much as I was sounding like all that, I still didn’t really have nothing. He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy’ [laughs].”
