Nigerian skitmaker and content creator, Abdulgafar Ahmad popularly known as Cute Abiola is reflecting on his time spent in detention.
Esabod Global News reported in November 2021 that the comedian had spent 10 days in Navy detention. The comedian was said to have been missing when his colleague in the comedy industry, Debo Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni, raised the alarm that he was nowhere to be found after reporting at his office in Navy Town, Lagos.
Two days after the alarm was raised, a Navy commander had announced that the comic actor wasn’t missing but was detained for flouting the military laws by posting a video of himself in military uniform on social media, an act which was said to violate the armed forces’ social media policy.
Dahun had also added that the comedian failed to show up when called upon to explain himself but only returned after the expiration of his leave on November 15, 2021, and was put behind bars the same day.
The comedian was later released after 18 days to serve his punishment after he was tried for misconduct and indiscipline.
Reminiscing on the past, Cute Abiola admitted that the military really humbled him as he noted how he spent 30 days inside the cell. However, he remains grateful to the Armed Forces.
“30 days Inside Cell 2021 ! The military really humbled me !!!! Thank you Armed Forces”.
His fans took to his comment section to also reflect on the scandal as they noted how Instagram blogger, Gistlover and Mr Macaroni went all out for him.
The famous skit maker had a year later announced his exit from the Navy following his appointment as the Special Assistant on Creative Industries to the Governor of Kwara State.
The Funny man told his then 5 million followers on Instagram that he had to quit being in active service of the Nigerian Navy to give him ample time to pursue his comedy career.
Last year, Cute Abiola almost got himself into another trouble as the Nigerian police threatened to prosecute him over his skits.
The comedian, via his social media pages, had shared a video of him dressed as a police officer, mimicking the Nigerian police and their love for bribes, which the Nigerian Police Force didn’t find funny and they had vowed to investigate and possibly prosecute him for desecrating the force’s uniform.
Reacting to it, Cute Abiola shared a meme of him being unbothered by the threat.
